 Within Blackburn College all current staff are well qualified to deliver the programmes offered and partners have access to current practitioners to increase the effectiveness of training. The approach to the recruitment and maintenance of well qualified staff with up to date expertise in the specialist area will be outlined in relevant sections of the CoVE partnership’s Quality Policy Statement.

Blackburn has state of the art learning resources - open learning resource centre – Specialist library facilities, 2 IT suites, lap trolley with Wireless technology – Mobile community teaching resource which includes ILT resources, OHPs, Powerpoint units.

Access to learning spaces in local Children’s Centres

Training work based assessors and expert witnesses to support training and assessment in the work place. Comprehensive employer engagement structure in place – Regular employer meetings – employer steering group – employer training events – Mentor evenings.

The Centre provides a wide range of Core programmes at both level 2 and 3 and a comprehensive CPD programme. Blackburn College HE Department delivers three relevant Foundation Degrees two of which are specifically designed for Teaching Assistants.

For the past 4 years the Centre has delivered training with retention and achievement rates above the National average. The Centre achieved an Inspection grade 1 for Core provision and an additional grade 1 for the Work based Learning Provision.
