STAR Training’s Head Office, based in Wakefield, currently deliver progression within the Teaching and Learning aspect of school support staff activity. This includes the VQ support work in schools, NVQ 2 Teaching Assistants leading to NVQ 3 Teaching Assistants. This is supplemented by development of Training mentors from within the support team to provide and encourage Continuous Professional Development activity. As part of this STAR have developed an online support tool 2Develop to enable support staff to analyse their learning needs and maintain a portfolio of their development. This feeds into their delivery of the NVQ programme. STAR’s team are trained HLTA assessors and able to advise and guide learners on progression routes including Foundation Degree.
The team is made up of competent highly qualified individuals with education backgrounds at a range of levels including retired Head teachers, Deputy Heads, Teachers, Teaching Assistants and advisors. STAR have a range of Internal Verifiers, Lead assessors, Assessors and Trainee Assessors and as an Investor in People and Customer First recognised organisation we are committed to their ongoing learning and development.
As part of their programme they provide online training needs analysis and development/support materials are provided to encourage the use of ICT linked into the award and ‘fasttrack’. where appropriate. Delivery of learning is based within the learners school and where needed venues for workshops are used which are within LA or community learning facilities with IT suites and interactive facilities.
STAR has recently been successful in gaining the Customer First and Matrix standards which will be disseminated and used to support IAG within the partnership .
