The CoVE’s vision is to provide the platform to enable support staff in schools affordable, accessible training which will meet the needs of both the employers and the rapidly changing workforce.

It will help to develop a world class workforce that

  • Strives to achieve the best possible outcomes for all children and young people
  • Is confident, competent and safe to work with children and young people
  • Enables people to aspire to be part of and want to stay as part of the school workforce where they can develop skills and build satisfying and rewarding careers
  • Parents, children and young people truly respect

It will closely work with Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) as Sector Body, and Learning and Skills Council (LSC), who have both identified school support staff training and development as a high priority.

The CoVE will attract hard to reach learners, promote careers in support work in schools and incorporate skills for life within its development work.

In addition to workforce reform, new expectations and demands are being placed on support staff and new roles are emerging through the development of the Children’s Workforce, 14-19 curriculum developments and the delivery of extended services.

The School Support Staff CoVE will play a key role in these developments as the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) works with key partners to reflect and deliver on the needs of this challenging agenda.
